In January 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) launched a pilot program for 10-gigabit optical networks, systematically guiding their transition from technical trials to full-scale deployment and application. By April 2025, MIIT had selected 168 projects to participate in the 10-gigabit optical network pilot initiative. Driven by strong market demand and the nation’s dual "Double 10-Gigabit" policies, 50G PON technology is rapidly advancing from small-scale pilot applications toward larger-scale commercial deployments, with projected growth rates of 200% from 2025 to 2027, ultimately reaching $1.1 billion by 2027.

Thanks to the relentless efforts of the company's R&D team, Youyang Optoelectronics recently completed the EVT sample development of its 50G COMBO OLT optical device. This latest 50G COMBO OLT EVT sample features a hybrid BOX+TO package design, offering backward compatibility across 50G/10G/2.5G networks while delivering symmetrical uplink and downlink rates. It also meets the compact size requirements for SFP-DD small-form-factor optical modules, with both the transmitter and receiver components satisfying the 50G OLT C+ module's power budget of up to 32 dBm. Notably, this EVT sample was produced in a single pass on a fully automated production line, laying a solid foundation for accelerating the subsequent DVT, PVT, and MP phases—enabling faster progress, improved efficiency, higher yields, and enhanced cost competitiveness of the final product.
Meanwhile, Wuhan Youyang Optoelectronics recently launched high-end products—including 25G OLT PON devices (for overseas 10-Gigabit networks), 6PIN/8PIN SLD butterfly modules, 14PIN 1550 narrow-line-width butterfly modules, 1064 seed-source butterfly modules, green-light lasers (visible light), X-ray detectors, and 100G/200G/400G optical engines—which are currently being sampled in small batches by clients both domestically and internationally.
